In late December 1989, Bruce Langoulant’s 6-month-old daughter Ashleigh was fighting for her life as she battled Pneumococcal Meningitis. Bruce and his family like many others in similar situations were frustrated with the lack of information available and the overall lack of awareness about Meningitis, Meningococcal, and Pneumococcal. 3 years later in 1992, Bruce along with health care professionals and families with similar experiences established Meningitis Centre Australia (MCA).
MCA is a not-for-profit based in Perth, WA and is the only organisation of its kind in Australia. Our aim is to raise awareness, educate, advocate, and provide support for Meningitis, Meningococcal, Pneumococcal, and related diseases.
