A baby has died after being diagnosed with meningococcal in north-west Queensland.
The baby was one of three across the region that was diagnosed this month with the disease at North West Hospital and Health Service.
A hospital spokesman said the Public Health Unit traced and treated all contacts of the people involved and took all precautions to prevent further cases of the deadly disease.
“Reports from the Public Health Unit indicate that the three cases are separate with no crossover in contacts and different strains of the disease isolated,” he said.
A statement released last Friday urged parents and carers to look for warnings signs of the disease.
